Stacey Servito Martin

Seismologist | BSc Geology | PhD Earth Sciences

The research during my PhD at RSES sought to apply modern techniques, sometimes in conjunction with sparse instrumental records, to observations extracted from historical materials to quantify and interpret earthquakes that predate the modern era.

The importance of such a systematic and critical investigation of historical and pre-digital (early-instrumental) earthquakes is necessary to assess and correct modern seismic hazard.

Australia and Indonesia were the focus of my PhD research. My previous work and publications have dealt with earthquakes in India and the rest of the Subcontinent, the central United States and California, Haiti, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.
